I'd put this in the necromancy school. (Then again, I'd place healing spells in the necromancy school in general, and I don't agree with when it changed to non-necromancy. That might've been 3e?)
3e made the move to Conjuration, suggesting you were summoning energy from the Positive Energy Plane. Which didn't make a ton of sense, because the Inflict spells did exactly the same thing for the Negative Energy Plane and remained necromancy.

I'd actually put it in transmutation, based on the description.
Good call; I changed it.

There's a part of me that wants there to be one spell for objects/constructs, and another for undead, as those feel like very different kinds of magic to me. Although the spell that assists undead would need some other kind of utility boost.
I view it as sort of a higher-level mending spell. You're not healing, you're fixing an object--that in this case also is "alive."

But undead may be incorporeal. Also, it feels weird to me that artificers can repair undead

I guess my preferred version would look more like this:

Repair

1st-level (transmutation; healing, technological, transformation, utility)
Classes: Artificer, bard, wizard
Casting Time: 1 Action
Range: Touch
Target: One construct or artificial object
Components: V, S
Duration: Instantaneous
You restore an object or construct that has been damaged. The target regains hit points equal to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier. Magic items may be repaired in this way, but their magic is not restored.
Cast at Higher Levels. The hit points regained increase by 1d8 for each slot level above 1st.
Rare: Dryvel’s Otherworldly Repair. This spell can also restore hit points to undead creatures.

Just got my hands on the puppy and I'm looking through it.

First grabbed the book in question after asking "What the naughty word* is a Wielder?" upon looking through the preview of Multiclasser's Manual, and it turns out that it's basically the wielder of a specific artifact and who draws power from it -- and the Torchbearer subclass in particular is definitely for the He-Man/She-Ra/mahou shoujo types in the crowd.

Plus having all of the races (ahem, Lineages), backgrounds, destinies, subclasses, spells and other stuff from the previous MoARs in one place is definitely handy.

* Yes, I typed those two words in manually, as I'm still tickled about the filter and how it deals with cusses. It's just hilarious.

Does anyone have experience with the Wielder in play? One of my players is interested but I'm not too familiar with it, how it stacks up against other classes power versatility etc, and why one would choose it.

I desperately want to play one, but I'm DMing for the foreseeable forever. It's probably the most complicated class to build, and has a lot of options moment to moment, feels sort of like Warlock+ in build structure.

I'm usually concerned about things being OP/"better" than standard class etc. options. The Wielder seems pretty versatile and potent, but it's hard to judge it til someone's played with it.

Even compared to "normal" spellcasters?

Going through old adventures I remembered Fiery Dragon's "NeMoren's Vault" which had a local hero's super-magical sword (that grows in power with the person who has it) as a possible treasure...

I wonder if a "fighter type" character might use this sword as a reason to change their current level(s) (iirc the adventure was level 1-3?) to Wielder.

I'll probably use the adventure in the near future and will let this forum know if this idea went anywhere. (Since I probably use my own pregens I could even nudge one or two characters towards this sword with their background)
