D&D (2024) Class Iconic Art in the 2024 Player's Handbook

See to me the Genasi just feel like reflavored Tieflings. Give them resistances and thematic spells and you are good to go but honestly outside of Planescape I don't remember ever meeting or anyone playing a Genasi in a game since they were originally introduced. To me Goliath are similar to Dragonborn which admittedly took me years to like.
Genasi, Tiefling, Aasimar, Glitchling, and Plasmoid are sort of the quintet of Planetouched. Goliath and Dragonborn are definitely representing for each of the most iconic monster classes of the game.

I lean Genasi into their Genie origins a bit more. Storm Genasi and the Abyssal and Dark Sun Genasi were cool too, but I think it becomes complicated when you want to express so many different human+elemental species as player options (and make Giants specifically elemental as D&D does).

Yeah, like I said, it is more Giants who always cause me problems. Genasi being the children of Genies and tied into Genie lore and stuff in my homebrew is easy and quick. Got some great stuff there.

Giants have gone from Material plane origins to feywild origins to elemental chaos origins... and I'm just never happy with what I've done with them.

They're all of the above. They're Titans of the Old World, before it was shattered into three echoes and before they were defeated by the New Gods. They're the Children of the Primordials, and the Primal Spirits and Archfey and Dark Powers are children as well, but have been splintered with the Echoes they align with. The Giants alone have found their way back to a semblance of Order, an Ordning if you were, that unites all Giants once again under one banner. One day we'll take back our thrones from the Usurpers Pelor and Gruumsh, but until then we wait. We seethe. We hunger. We RAGE.

Dunno if you've picked up Bigby's, but Wyatt does some fun mythological stuff with Giants.

Definitely not agreeing with some of these, but I think the angle is what might be getting you with the druid Iconic. Pulled out the other two images we have of them to show different angles.

They give of a "serene, communing with nature" vibe, but not a feminine vibe to me.

Those are much clearer.

Also, other fun druid art

:giggle:

For the elves, some more clearly fall one way or the other for me. And considering their lore of being very genderfluid, I kind of like that it can be hard to tell sometimes.

For example, the iconic Ranger looks masculine to me here

But I realized when I first saw them, I thought they were female.

It is funny how the small details can shift your perception one way or the other.

Agreed.

I'd also say, we got plenty of muscularity, just not the BULGING muscles common in say, superhero art. THis guy for example is quite muscular

But it is the natural muscular you would expect from someone, not the dehydrated muscle definition of body-builders.

Its fantasy though, not cosplay/reality. Some exaggeration is fine. I don't want to play an average Barbarian, I want to play an exceptional Barbarian.
