I love Savage Worlds as a system. it is generally my go to for most things. But I do not like it for supers. I am not exactly sure why, but it never hits right. I love M&M3, though, so...

ICONS is a good balance between a narrative supers game and something like M&M.
I too am quite fond of M&M but I'll switch for players because they've done it for me before.

What do you mean SWS "never hits right"? Can it do Justice League-level supers? The really ridiculous powers like Superman and Green Lantern and Flash?

Over the weekend I picked up a copy of L1: Secret of Bone Hill at Half Price Books. It's one of those 1e modules I always wanted (sandbox with a village) but never owned in print.

Dirk & Tallow by Scott Malthouse. A little RPG that takes some influence from Dark Souls (and is, IMO, better than the official Dark Souls RPG).

Picked up Magpie Games' MASKS: A New Generation! because players were are ready to put my baby (Mutants & Masterminds!!!) out to pasture. So. From MASKS! reviews, I knew I would hate it BUT got it anyway because teamwork makes the dream work, right?

I couldn't even get half way through the book. Ever find yourself reading through a new game and

Yeah that. So now for the first time since 2010 I gotta shop for a new superhero rpg. Something rules-light to medium, that allows creation of ANY imaginable power PLUS has rules for equipment, vehicles and super-bases. And the arts should be evocative of superhero comics.

How good or bad is Savage Worlds Supers?

It suffers from the fact that handling certain things runs up against some of the systemic features of SW hard. Its instructive over time to note how many people who have a really bad experience with SW had it playing Supers. As just a glaring example, the open-ended damage system starts to do some very odd things when you get up to more than three dice in SW, and there are attacks in Supers that are well over that. SW Supers is also really resistant to most powers that might end up being a plot breaker, and to be blunt, there are plenty of those in the genre.

I'd make some suggestions but the phrase "any imaginable power" is one of those that people can mean rather widely varied things by, so...

It's amusing that you just described GURPS Supers perfectly. Because I always saw SW as GURPS Lite, Jr. I don't want to derail this thread much more but thanks folks.

Supers has some of the same issues (well, the prior version; I haven't seen the current in play so I don't want to make that authoritatively) but honestly, even it doesn't have it as bad. The worst part of it is its almost impossible to design a character so that they aren't really vulnerable to getting one-shotted in any way that doesn't make them largely immune to most attacks even from other supers.

Its just not a system well suited for it.

(I do sympathize for your situation. Superhero RPGs have been my jam for decades, but I'm conflicted about all my options these days).
