Just picked up a copy of Tales of Xadia from an FLGS.

Had been hoping to find a hard copy of Cortex Prime out in the wild, but those are exceedingly rare these days. Tales of Xadia should be pretty close to the next best thing, and my kids love the cartoon series.

I figure I can pick up Cortex Prime in PDF to do my future "hacks".

Picked up three things in the last few weeks.
  • Volume 4 of Vaults of Vaarn.
  • High Guard for Traveller. A book about ships and building them.
  • Behind the Claw for Traveller. A book detailing one of the game's most sourced Sectors.

GURPS Meta-Tech, a new release for building power based gear and giving it a monetary value. Should prove useful for Cyberpunk and Sci-Fi games where in GURPS, in game it makes sense to pay for gear with moneys, the system really works better with buying something like cyber gear with character points, to keep everyone on the same economy.

I'm hopeful this helps with this issue.

I'm always surprised to hear people continue talking about Cortex Prime. It had such a rough start, and it was kicked from owner to owner, resulting in several dropped projects (e.g., Masters of the Universe). I know it has a pretty active Discord, but apart from that? crickets

Yeah, disappointing. The online D&D Beyond-like rules were really well done but there has been no further development. It would be far more useful--and I would be much more likely to use it--if they had developed a tool to select from various options and have it output your own rule system.

On the one hand, because the book is a kit to build your own system, it doesn't need constant support to be useful.
On the other hand, having to do a lot of manual work in cutting and pasting from options to create your own rule set has proven to be a bit more work than I want to deal with. It is a very good book and great system to create your own rulesets for a variety of campaign concepts and genres. But it would be exponentially more useful with digital tools that make it more convenient in building the rulesets from the options provided.

As well as this year being the 50th anniversary of D&D it is also the 40th anniversary of Lone Wolf so there are a few commemorative items being produced. I’ve ordered the box set which includes, among other things a 2m x 1.5m fleece blanket with a full colour map of Magnamund… this will shortly be adorning the wall in my games room…

POD versions of Unearthed Arcana and Fiend Folio for 1E, to replace some well-worn, dogeared copies. Also picked up Court of Blades (a courtly variation on Blades in the Dark), hoping I can interest my play group in giving it a go - I did a solo BitD game and I’m eager to see how it does with a group.

I still have both of these. I sometimes use the FF to intimidate my players who are old enough to remember the monstrosities that are in it - like the Nilbog.

Looking at my temp storage folder, it appears that the two most recent are The Triangle Agency (Kickstartered: an odd little game that is kind of a mix of Control with the SPC Foundation with a touch of The Umbrella Academy and The Lost Room) and They Came from The Cyclops' Cave (the sort of pulpy/cinematic fantasy version of the Storypath System from Onyx Path).

Picked up Magpie Games' MASKS: A New Generation! because players were are ready to put my baby (Mutants & Masterminds!!!) out to pasture. So. From MASKS! reviews, I knew I would hate it BUT got it anyway because teamwork makes the dream work, right?

I couldn't even get half way through the book. Ever find yourself reading through a new game and

Yeah that. So now for the first time since 2010 I gotta shop for a new superhero rpg. Something rules-light to medium, that allows creation of ANY imaginable power PLUS has rules for equipment, vehicles and super-bases. And the arts should be evocative of superhero comics.

How good or bad is Savage Worlds Supers?
