Question about OSE's box sets

Oh, he's clearly a smart guy and is -- at least for now -- stuck with past choices.

There's one "choice" that really doesn't sit well with me: Gavin being an Englishman who, until recently, lived in Germany, all of his stuff used to be available in Europe without a problem. But then he joined with Exalted Funeral (US-based) for distribution and those guys haven't been able to set up a EU webshop/distribution in THREE YEARS!
Things like that can really hamper your growth.

I got the boxed sets because, I'll admit, I actually like how outer boxes.

Will I also admit having everything together in one book is probably better? Eh, I'm sure it is.

What about getting the classic box and the advance referee’s tome? That way you kinda get the best of both worlds? Does that give one all of the content?

This approach actually works if you got everything that was available in the first KS. Along with the original Classic Box, he also printed the Advanced Genre Rules (character classes) and Druid & Illusionist Spells, which both fit into the original extra deep box.

I just finished playing in a OSE Black Crag game (with the basic rules + Advanced Fantasy book) and will be playing in a Dolmenwood game. From what I've read of the Dolmenwood player's book it is absolutely exceptional, both iterating on past OSE and OSR ideas, while injecting so much flavor into it. The Dolmenwood fighter, for example, is an evolution of the OSE fighter, and Dolmenwood really makes the survival mechanisms more interesting / flavorful than OSE's survival stuff which can get a bit dull.
