LOL you averaged over 14 for each score. Granted you needed that to have any hope of a bonus to things, but still...

Given the distribution it creates, I'd just roll d6+d4+8. It has a slightly lower average, but over all would be quite a bit less dice rolling (if you think that isn't a good thing, too, I guess...).

Not my cup of tea, personally, ... and has nothing mentioned about replacing ASI...
