DC20 Kickstarter launch on June 4th

I would suggest looking at Cypher and Monte Cook as one of the most successful KS-funded RPGs. They run at least one Cypher related campaign a year.
I can offer some German language games: Das Schwarze Auge (far bigger then the other two) , Hexxen 1733 and Die Schwarze Katze. They obviously are nowhere as big as international games given that they are for a German language audience but they all have been doing one or more yearly crowdfundings for several books at the same time.

You don't need to be a member of the millionaire kickstarter club to have a successfully game line. You need a dedicated base that supports you crowdfunding campaigns for years. And that base doesn't even need to be super high in numbers. Hexxen 1733 made it to more then 30 Hardcover books plus a lot more stuff books with roughly 450-600 backers per crowdfunding.

What some of the very successful RPG kickstarters often fail at is continuing support (especially adventures) for their games.
Imho the real success stories are the games that don't have just one big crowdfunding success but mange to repeat that success several times and make a game line this way.

Still back to the topic. That DC20 kickstarter hit me by surprise. A member of the million club in barely 4-5 days ?
Its impressive and it is nice to see that new rpgs can create this kind of success.

Unofficial DC20 Roll20 Character Sheet

Hey everyone!

I have created a functioning character sheet within Roll20 for the DC20 Sample Rules that are on the Kickstarter. It is pretty bare bones, but does have some auto calculations and configured rolls.

You can find it on my github page:

If I am asked to remove this then I will private the repo.

If you want to use it, then whoever makes the game will need a Pro subscription with Roll20 to be able to add the custom character sheet.

You can add the custom character sheet by doing the following:

  • Go to the home page of your game, then click Settings and Game Settings.
  • Change the Character Sheet Template to Custom.
  • Go to the link above, click sheet.html, and then copy all of the code (or you can click the button beside RAW at the top right of the code to copy it all).
  • Go back to roll20 and paste it in HTML Layout.
  • Go back to the link above (or you can hit the back button on the previously opened page), click sheet.css, and then copy all of the code (or you can click the button beside RAW at the top right of the code to copy it all).
  • Go back to roll20 and paste it in CSS Styling.
  • Then go to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.

You should have access to this character sheet inside the game now.

I made some updates to the sheet.

1. Added Dark Mode.
2. Fixed Awareness.
3. Added the ability to add custom languages.
4. Added Armor, PDR, and Class specific PD and MD.

Less than 3 days left of the Kickstarter and closing in on 2 millions

It did phenomenal in its first ten days (~85% of its total?) and because of that... I'm surprised it didn't keep going really strong. MCDM RPG never really slumped. Collville had more of an audience?

In any case, I think DC20 is an important RPG kickstarter. If the Dungeon Dudes success didn't already show it, DC20 really underscores the YT influencer culture and how important it is to launch games. The dude was running a channel with ~56k subs (if memory serves) when the KS started which is astounding given where he'll be ending (~18K backers).

given the first few days I called it at around 2M to around 2.3M (half of MCDM RPG), DC20 basically had a standard trajectory

yes, I guess about 50% more than DC20 when all is said and done (DC20 currently has 17k backers, Matt had 30k)

For anyone wondering about vtt support. The rules will be supported on Foundry, Roll 20, Alchemy and more.

And for anyone backing at the $95 tier or above they will get all the kickstarter content for free on Foundry and Alchemy if the kickstarter hits 2.1 millions, which seems very likely now. Also 50% of on purchases for DC20 on Demiplane.
