Decipher Coda system conversion into d20??

CODA rips out every check and balance WotC put into 3rd edition, so that's no surprise.

Not sure it was ever worth converting CODA into d20. Once you start, you might as well fix the flaws of CODA, and in the end you will have designed a brand new game.

Of course this is written 16 years later, so I think it would be much simpler to reskin 5E.

Of course, I think it would be much smarter to move to an actual skill-based game engine, but this answer assumes you only consider D&D derivatives.

Yes, to convert from a 2d6 scale to a d20 scale. I did the same to convert 2d6 Traveller to C&C. It works good as an initial rough, but smoothing out will be needed as you go.
Better to multiply by 1.5, since it's going from attributes rolled on 2d6 to attribtutes rolled on 3d6. Use the DMG option for open end on 1d20 to replicate the feel of the open end on 2d6=12...

The system's not as bad as many seem to be trying to make it out, but it's very clearly cribbed from d20 SRD.

I'm really curious about the throught-process of how you first found this 16-year-old thread and then decided that necro'ing this 16-year-old thread was worth it because your negative opinions on the insigificant CODA system must be heard. Would you mind walking us through that process?
