In the July-August issue of Smithsonian, D&D gets a small, 2-page, article entitled "Changing the Game: The wizardry of Dungeons & Dragons sparked a revolution in how we play just about everything." Now, I have a subscription to Smithsonian, but honestly? It usually ends up as packing material (I very rarely read it). This month, however, my dad (who also has a subscription) read the article and was suddenly much more interested in my hobby (he's a 77-year-old attorney a la Matlock - right down to the bolo tie and cowboy boots - who has historically had ZERO interest in my hobbies), so I thought this was pretty neat. I think the article definitely reached a demographic who would usually have no interest at all in D&D.
