D&D 5E Amazon US book sales rank.

I crit!
Amazon says that 3k+ 2024 PHBs were sold in the last month.

The 2014 PHB is ranked at 349 at $26

Edit: the 3k is for the new PHB in preorder which is up from 2k

Decent drop off from the 5k estimate a week ago for the last “month” time frame….but still 3k after 10 years on the market is amazingly good sales!

Pretty impressive when yoy consider how hard WotC is pushing the direct sale bundles on social media amd Amazon not really offering a discount, amd the FLGS covers.

The 3k refers to the 2024 PHB which last time I looked was 2k+ so it’s up about 1k

Right, I think that is a large amount considering how hard WotC is pushing direct and FLGS sales.
I am surprised it is that little, I would have expected the 2024 PHB preorders to outpace the 2014 sales

Do we have any idea what percentage of books are sold by FLGS? I also wonder how well the DDB digital + physical bundle is doing, but we will never learn that…

Casual customers are still unaware of the revision coming down the line.

We'll never learn how the books do at FLGSes either. Only WotC knows - there's never been a good way to track it from our end.

I don't know that it isn't...? 3000 pre-orders is pretty big in book publishing across all vendors, let alone from one.

Brandon Sanderson checked hist first books sakes, Elantria, on bookscan I'm it's first week, saw it was 400 copies sold and assumed his career was over. His editor told him that is actually a hit...and Elantris is still in print.

We don't actually know how much the 5E PHB sold in pre-orders.

No idea what percentage comes from where, but Bookscan typically for books represe ts u5% of sales, but @Alphastream estimated that 5E numbers were more like 25%...and that is going to be because of both GLGS and Beyond.

And WotC is beating rhe drum loudly about the value of their direct sales, not Amazon.
